International Relations

International Relations (IR) is the study and practice of the interactions between sovereign states as well as between various non-state actors on the global stage. It encompasses the analysis of foreign policy, diplomacy, conflict, cooperation, and global governance, examining the ways nations engage with one another, the influences of international organizations, international law, and the role of multinational corporations and non-governmental organizations. The field investigates theories and frameworks that explain the dynamics of global affairs, including realism, liberalism, constructivism, and critical theories, and it addresses issues such as security, trade, human rights, environmental concerns, and humanitarian intervention. Overall, IR seeks to understand the complexities of global interactions and the patterns that emerge as states and other actors navigate their interests and relationships in a world marked by interdependence and diversity.
